A beautiful hidden cave that felt like home - I spent most of my Monterey grad school mornings nestled up by the fire at Estéban. It was my spot to wake up, to ground. There were so many elements to the ritual: the friendly, welcoming hello as I passed the front desk, sitting in my usual chair by the fire, and, of course, REBECA. Rebeca handles weekday mornings. Her energy itself is sunshine, and she handles the calm and the chaos—should an event be happening simultaneously—with the utmost grace and always a bounce in her step. She’s attentive, always made sure I had enough coffee, and would even give me a to-go cup for my walk to my 10 a.m. classes. I would often hear customers who didn’t know she’d been up since 4 comment on her energy and zest. It’s infectious. That was the morning at Estéban, and the most intimate part of my time there. But the evenings become a magical other setting: fire pits, a full bar, and amazing deals on oysters and wine. If the morning is a warm, rejuvenating place to wake up, the evening is an enchanting place to unwind and let your spirit relax into a feeling of escape. If you couldn’t tell, I love Estéban <3

Really close to Big Sur … I thought it was really convenient being less than 20 mins from Point Lobos and lots of Big Sur attractions

Casa Munras was a definite find in Monterey! Wonderful, friendly staff, clean rooms with everything we needed. Easy check in & out and ample on site parking. Super walkable to downtown & even the wharf and Cannery Row. We will be back!

We love when Esteban's hosts jazz music, especially in partnership with the Monterey Jazz Festival. They never disappoint!

The patio is lovely and had live music for Happy Hour. Food was delicious, especially cocktails, empanada and burrata/bread. Our server and manager were very attentive and clearly working hard to make sure everyone satisfied. They have many specials so will be back!

I've stayed here before but this was the best time yet.

Great happy hour for tapas & drinks. Jessica is a gem! She was attentive and friendly and so were the other wait staff. Paella was superb!!! We ordered it for dinner when we placed our drink/tapas order because it takes about 30 minutes to prepare it.

We only ate breakfast, Rebeca was working the morning shifts at the restaurant. She was great. Very attentive and friendly even though she was extremely busy. She checked on us, always had a smile and we really enjoyed seeing her at breakfast. We got seated right away. The location is great, it's close to the wharf, in walking distance and other attractions.
