We really enjoyed this hotel. We took the bikes that were available from the hotel and rode all the way down to lovers point. It is close enough to the beach to walk or ride a bike. We also enjoyed that a Trader Joe’s was next-door. It is an animal friendly property but still very clean.
Great Bloody Mary bar and special high quality pepperoni pizza was excellent. Great outdoor patio! Service was great. | Food: 5/5 | Service: 4/5 | Atmosphere: 4/5
We loved our stay at Casa Munras. The property is located within a 10/15 walk to the Fisherman’s Wharf, Marina, and Cannery Row. Downtown is even closer. The hotel has an old school vibe with lovely grounds and a fabulous restaurant. The guest room was clean, comfortable, and had all the amenities we needed. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. We had a special request and it was honored. We couldn’t have been happier with our experience at the hotel.
Esteban Restaurant at Casa Munras in Monterey CA ...
Esteban Restaurant at Casa Munras in Monterey CA -- We've been staying at Casa Munras for years - a historic, hacienda-style multi-room retreat located in Old Town Monterey, for its great location, its fantastic pet friendliness (they have a separate dining menu for fur babies!) -- and of course, Esteban Restaurant. While Loquita in Santa Barbara tries hard to deliver the spectacle and theater of eating Tapas, Esteban unapologetically makes Tapas the star of guests' dining experience - and a delightful one at that: an open fireplace, an open-air patio surrounded by Mediterranean and coastal California plants -- think olive trees, draping bougainvillea, agave -- and scents of lavender and star jasmine. And the artful creations that come out of the open kitchen are superb -- we had the pulpo frito -- a perfect balance of crispy and soft textures, Boquerones -- bright, tangy with a clean vinegar punch, seasonal seafood stew -- that we can't seem to get enough of, pear & Manchego salad -- sweet, savory and creamy, Wagyu meatballs, and stuffed mushrooms to round it out. The cuisine is Spanish-inspired Mediterranean paired with fresh Northern California produce and seafood. The service is impeccable -- we've come to know some of the servers over time, and they us. And the dining experience is never hurried -- you are encouraged to stay, linger over coffee, dessert if you still have room for it -- and meet fellow travelers -- the way Tapas are intended to bring people together. If Loquita is about spectacle and theater, then Esteban delivers something far better: Soul. Nicely done, Esteban! Five Stars. No hesitation. No asterisk.
