My Mother and I were on our last leg of our 10 road trip to Southern California and headed back to Sacramento but, we just could not continue, so we booked an overnight stay at the Casa Munras. We found ourselves wanting to stay longer but due to prior commitments, we could only spend the night. The Hotel was very clean and welcoming. The staff were very pleasant and generous in offering the small independent Café just across the street to grab a bite to eat. Due to Covid, your restaurant was not open. The room was very spacious and comfortable and the Hotel grounds were beautiful. We will definitely come back and spend more time at the Hotel Casa Munras and hopefully we will be able to enjoy your restaurant. Your place and location was a GEM! Thank you!
Casa Munras exceeded our expectations. The room with fireplace was beautiful; everything appeared to be brand new. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We went to the restaurant for happy hour tapas and had paella one evening. The food was excellent and the bartender and wait staff were so nice that we felt very comfortable and taken care of. We are planning to return soon.
Casa Munras is very clean, very nicely furnished, rooms very comfortable, great location. The rooms are in excellent condition. Staff is polite, professional, knowledgeable, helpful and provides excellent service. I highly recommend Casa Munras and would definitely stay here again. We had a very positive experience and our stay was very pleasurable.
The location is perfect for getting around the peninsula. Very walkable for dining, some sightseeing and conveniences. I’ve stayed here a couple of times now and it’s my go to location if not staying with family or friends. A room with a fireplace is a must for me; I live in Hawaii and I’m from the peninsula but the cold really gets to me 😊 Plus the ambiance of a fireplace is perfect!
Very cute room. I don't really have any complaints. It was peaceful and very friendly staff. Some people talk about to many fees but they tell you all the fees up front, and if you compare them to other places it's very fair. Some charge parking and pet fee a day, but this place is just per visit. That's totally do-able. Room is comfy and very not hotel like. Feels like a vacation room instead. I do wish there was a microwave, but the ac was great. Will definitely be staying here again. Thank you for making my dogs last trip a memorable one.
The property was nice & clean, loved the fresh flowers all around. It’s in a great location where you’re walking distance from a lot of great places to check out! Casa munras did not disappoint & we will be back soon!
We have been to Monterey 3 times now. The first was our honeymoon then our anniversary past two years! The place has just totally grown us a ton! We love coming here- it's beautiful, relaxing and has amazing food and patios along with the scenery!. With that said the reason for that is downtown Monterey and fisherman wharf and the walk to cannery row! Casa Munras is the PERFECT location for enjoying all of the above. It spacious, clean and beautiful! We book the deluxe fireplace room and it exceeds all expectations! The staff is amazing and the Esteban restaurant patio on site is awesome!!!! We didn't stay here our first two times but now we know we won't stay anywhere else ! Highly recommend this place for your stay in Monterey! You won't be disappointed! We actually extended our stay this time we liked it that much- one downer- pool is closed due to covid- it's the law and not Casa Munras fault - but still takes a huge perc away. The pool is beautiful
We chose Esteban for their beautiful outdoor dining area. We were very pleased with the service. CJ, was our server and gave us wonderful recommendations on a couple of the vegetarian dishes, and answered any questions we had on the menu. Anna was the bartender on duty that evening and made my husband the best boss Anna Margarita he has ever had. I highly recommend Esteban. My family and I felt very safe there. Everybody was practicing social distancing and wearing their face coverings. I love the disposable menus. We are a local family and have always had a wonderful experience at Esteban. Anna, Always makes our visit extra special.
My mother is from Chile, but her parents are Spanish and Basque. I’ve read up on Esteban’s restaurant, and felt this would be a taste of the homeland. I took mom for the Tapas Happy Hour, and it was a delight! The entire menu is tailored to the authentic Spanish palate. But there’s more. They even had a few dishes from other Spanish speaking places, like a Peruvian empanada. We sat mom and I in a nice corner. The ambiance is like rustic Granada or south coast of Spain. Comfortable areas inside, and a large patio outside with a glass/gas fireplace. I think it’s really nice. Mom had ordered the anchovy tapas, and I had serrano ham and melted cheese. Tapas are served like extremely nice antipasti. Bread, and wine. They were excellent. The bread was home made, and the anchovies were fresh, and not overwhelming at all. With layers of tomatoes and ají underneath, my mom was absolutely delighted. I almost didn’t get a bite. I had the sangria red, and later a flavorful margarita. We were talking for at least an hour. When we thought about leaving we were visited by the chef himself! He took the time to come see people at the tables. That’s classy in a small setting. He got to our table, and was so kind. He gave us some of his story, and we shared ours back. He grew up in Spain, and everything he made was like a taste of the coast and country. He’s even got a special day for paella and another for wine. It was very nice to get to know him and appreciate the care behind the meal. After we had paid and I was gathering up my churros and manjar for dessert, the chef came back to the table and gave us a huge piece of the home made bread with a special orange and rosemary marmalade. It was just so thoughtful. My mom coveted the bread. I loved seeing her so happy. I didn’t ask for more than a slice. She says it tastes like her childhood. We are absolutely going to this wonderful place EVERY time to come to Monterey. That’s a promise. I hope you have a magical time in the little Spanish corner like we did. There’s nothing like it unless you go all the way to Spain yourself a lot. Definitely a new favorite.
Romantic and Dog-Friendly Escape in the heart of town
This is an intimate little spot that met every need we had. A large dog-friendly lawn, a dog-friendly patio AND dog menu at their on-sit restaurant - fantastic amenities! The human food there was also divine. The staff was caring and friendly, and our room was cozy with a comfortable bed. Thank you, Casa Munras for giving us a home away from home during our weekend in Monterey!
