Fisherman’s Wharf

You will travel back in time when you explore the Path of History located throughout the Historic Downtown of Monterey.  The rich history of the Spanish culture is found around every corner to include the Maritime Museum, the Custom House, the San Carlos Cathedral, and California’s first theatre.  This self-guided tour will allow you the flexibility to explore at your at your own pace, and it begins only steps from the Casa Munras Hotel.

Voted the nation’s #1 aquarium, this is a must see for anyone traveling to Monterey.  The Aquarium offers a range of activities for all ages to enjoy!  Whether you spend the afternoon exploring the 332,000 square foot facility with nearly 200 galleries and exhibits, or if you take a sunset sail on the Monterey Bay, you will remember every minute.   Home to the world’s largest jellyfish exhibit, the interactive Splash Zone, the amazing Kelp Forest, and the 1,000,000 gallon Outer Bay, you will find something for everyone.  The Monterey Bay Aquarium is located at the end of Cannery Row, only 1.5 miles from the Casa Munras Hotel. Certainly a must see!! 

17 Mile Drive
Pebble Beach
One of the most enchanting and famous stretches of road in the United States. This magnificent drive through Pebble Beach hugs the dramatic Pacific coastline. You will find an abundance of wildlife in their natural habitat and colorful native wildflowers.  Visit the Ghost Tree and the Lone Cypress during your adventure through the world famous 17 Mile Drive!

Cannery Row
The world-famous Cannery Row is known for the famous American iconic writer John Steinbeck, as well as the anchor as the region’s legendary fishing industry.  Cannery Row has now evolved into a “hot spot” in Monterey, offering a wide-variety of shopping, restaurants, world-class wine tasting, and an IMAX theater.  Only 1.2 miles from the Casa Munras Hotel, it is a beautiful walk along the Recreation Trail, or a short drive.    

San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo Mission (Carmel Mission)
Venture back in time when the Spanish conquistadors first settled in the Monterey area.  The Carmel Mission was founded in 1771 making it a historic “must see”.  In the Munrás courtyard, one will find the Munrás Family Heritage Museum. It displays the treasured keepsakes of this once prominent Monterey family.

Laguna Seca Recreation Area of Monterey County is home to the Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca and the Laguna Seca Recreation Area, where visitors can camp on the surrounding hillsides for a serene view of the Salinas Valley and within close proximity (15 minute drive) of downtown Monterey.
